Charles “Chuck” M. Hughes, Jr. represents a broad range of clients, from individuals to large corporations and public entities. His experience includes over 20 jury trials, over 100 bench trails and hundreds of motions and other court hearings. Mr. Hughes has a broad practice including all types of personal injury, general civil litigation and general casualty claims, as well as expertise in timber and landowner law; self-insured corporate defense; corporate and business related litigation; sheriff and law enforcement general representation and civil rights defense law and rural electric cooperative law.
Mr. Hughes's principle focus is the area of law enforcement defense. He acts as general counsel to Sheriff Rodney J. Strain, Jr., Sheriff of St. Tammany Parish. The agency employs over 700 deputies and Mr. Hughes directs legal matters for the entire agency, addressing a wide range of legal matters, including administration, operational and personnel matters dealing with both state and federal laws.
